Grenade by Bruno Mars http://katiebernard.com/blog/2011/01/03/grenade-by-bruno-mars/ http://katiebernard.com/blog/2011/01/03/grenade-by-bruno-mars/#comments Mon, 03 Jan 2011 04:39:47 +0000 Katie Bernard http://katiebernard.com/blog/?p=127

Easy come, easy go
That’s just how you live, oh
Take, take, take it all,
But you never give
Should of known you was trouble from the first kiss, Had your eyes wide open -
Why were they open?
Gave you all I had
And you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked, Cause what you don’t understand is
I’d catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’d jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah , yeah)
You know I’d do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah) Oh, oh
I would go through all this pain, Take a bullet straight through my brain,
Yes, I would die for ya baby ; But you won’t do the same

No, no, no, no
Black, black, black and blue beat me till I’m numb Tell the devil I said “hey” when you get back to where you’re from
Mad woman, bad woman,
That’s just what you are, yeah,
You’ll smile in my face then rip the breaks out my car
Gave you all I had

And you tossed it in the trash
You tossed it in the trash, yes you did
To give me all your love is all I ever asked Cause what you don’t understand is
I’d catch a grenade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’d jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah , yeah)
You know I’d do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah) Oh, oh
I would go through all this pain, Take a bullet straight through my brain,
Yes, I would die for ya baby ; But you won’t do the same

If my body was on fire, ooh You’ d watch me burn down in flames You said you loved me you’re a liar Cause you never, ever, ever did baby…
But darling I’ll still catch a grenade for ya
Throw my hand on a blade for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah)
I’d jump in front of a train for ya (yeah, yeah , yeah)
You know I’d do anything for ya (yeah, yeah, yeah) Oh, oh
I would go through all this pain, Take a bullet straight through my brain,
Yes, I would die for ya baby ; But you won’t do the same.
No, you won’t do the same,
You wouldn’t do the same,
Ooh, you’ll never do the same,
No, no, no, no

Katie Bernard’s Bio http://katiebernard.com/blog/2010/11/12/katie-bernards-bio/ http://katiebernard.com/blog/2010/11/12/katie-bernards-bio/#comments Fri, 12 Nov 2010 16:34:05 +0000 Katie Bernard http://katiebernard.com/blog/?p=124

Hey I’m Katie Bernard and here’s a little inside on who I ‘am.

The Early Years

I was born and raised in Canada and grew up in Ottawa Ontario. My Mom, Dad, sister and I are a very close family and I have my sister Amy to thank for introducing me to my passion, singing. We grew up listening to everything from Salt & Pepper, Celine Dion, to Reba McEntire. We definitely loved (and still love) listening to various types of music. I sang all the time when I was little, but it wasn’t until I was 8 years old that I really fell in love with it and knew that it was what I wanted to do for a living.

Performing Arts School

I remember asking my parents for a phone book one day and looking under the letter “P” for Performing Arts because I wanted to take professional vocal lessons. With the vocal lessons came dance and acting lessons and I wanted to do it all! Lucky for me, my parents enrolled me into one of the best Performing Art Schools in Ottawa. I basically lived there. I was taking four classes a week and loving every minute of it. It was my home away from home. My teachers were like my best friends. I stayed there for eight years and accomplished a lot.

The Love to Entertain

I did hundreds of singing competitions. I was performing at shows every other week, singing national anthems for major sporting events, and recording in the studio. I would perform everywhere and anywhere as long as I had an audience to perform it front of. The fans were always the only thing that mattered.

The Independent Years

At 13 I received a record deal from an independent label in Canada and got a good taste of the music business. Unfortunately, two years into my contract the label folded.  But all in all, it was an amazing experience. From there I continued to sing locally in Ottawa and record in the studio. But I was ready for a change.

Ready for a Change in the US

I decided to move to Orlando FL to further my singing. After doing many auditions I landed some work with Disney Studios. Disney was awesome, yet, it still wasn’t for me.

Then came American Idol… After many friends and family members convincing me that there’s no harm in trying out, I finally decided to give it a shot.  I was very lucky and made it to the top 40 of American Idol’s season 6.  The experience was life changing. However, the best part of the American Idol process was the amazing friends I made along the way. The experience was made that much more significant by all the people that it brought into my life.

Where Dreams Come True

With all of my experience with singing, I decided to take a big step and move to the city where dreams come true: Los Angeles. I’m currently working with a great producer & songwriter and things couldn’t be any better. We’re almost done with our 5 song EP and I can’t wait to share it with you all.

Top 10 VMA Moments http://katiebernard.com/blog/2010/09/13/top-10-vma-moments/ http://katiebernard.com/blog/2010/09/13/top-10-vma-moments/#comments Mon, 13 Sep 2010 14:10:16 +0000 Katie Bernard http://katiebernard.com/blog/?p=116

katie-bernard-on-stage-1There seemed to be more performances than awards given out at last night’s Video Music Awards, but that was all the more reason for us to get excited watching the action go down in L.A.’s Nokia Theatre. However, most of our favorite moments came courtesy of the night’s presenters. Chelsea Handler calling out Joe Manganiello? Check. Lindsay Lohan‘s cameo appearance in the opener? Check! Keep reading after the jump to check out our 10 favorite moments from the night (in no particular order) and weigh in with your own list!

1. Katy Perry’s fingernails
This one was from the very beginning of the pre-show but, come on, when Sway asked Katy Perry where her hubby, Russell Brand, was and she flashed him her fingernails with Russell’s face plastered on them? It doesn’t get any more adorable than that.

2. Lindsay Lohan’s cameo appearance
Chelsea Handler is beloved for the way she universally makes fun of everyone, but the best part of her intro was the surprise appearance by none other than Lindsay Lohan. “Are you drunk?” Lindsay asks Chelsea, a question the VMA host denied. “Then why is your ankle bracelet going off?” “Oh, that’s for waiting for a table at the Cheesecake Factory,” Chelsea replied. Lindsay captured her attention by replying, “Do you think anyone likes a drunk? Take it from me, they don’t.” We don’t even know what happened after that because we were laughing too hard. Watch the moment again!

3. Lady Gaga’s acceptance speech
Lady Gaga won plenty of awards last night, but the acceptance speech that struck us the most was for her Best Female Video Moonman. “Thank you so much. I love my fans so much. All my little monsters watching,” she said, with tears in her eyes. “Tonight, little monsters, we’re the cool kids at the party.” Plus, her last line is a classic: “And thank you to all the gays for remaking this video over and over again.”

4. Kim Kardashian loves Justin Bieber
Who other than Kim Kardashian should have introduced Justin Bieber‘s performance? Absolutely no one, is the answer, though she did it in such a fantastically awkward style that she made it onto our list. “Apparently in the eyes of the law, my admiration of Justin Bieber is creepy,” she said, referencing their 13-year age difference. To introduce him, she added, “Here’s the one you’re waiting for, the one I’m waiting for, Justin Bieber!” Fortunately, he didn’t return the flirtation on camera.

5. “The Social Network”‘s sexy stars
Hop on the band wagon: “The Social Network” has some pretty beautiful men in it (keep your eyes out for Armie Hammer, because after meeting him Saturday, I’m telling you he’s the one to watch). Justin Timberlake, Andrew Garfield and the happiest Jesse Eisenberg we’ve ever seen introduced Drake and Mary J. Blige’s performance, and, even though JTims did most of the talking, they all wormed their way more into our hearts.

6. Joe Manganiello and Evan Rachel Wood
These two “True Blood” hotties’ appearances in the VMA pre-show and main show sort of made up for the fact that we missed the “True Blood” finale to support MTV, and at least they put plenty of effort into it. Evan Rachel Wood teased during the pre-show that she was willing to help get the craziness started at the VMAs this year (which we could have used some more of) by saying to Joe Manganiello, “Maybe we’ll bite someone. You bark, I’ll bite.” Joe’s suggestion for the celebrity to go after: Lady Gaga. Plus, while not being the most exciting VMA presenters, they sure were two of the prettiest.

7. Gucci Guilty commercial
Holy hotness, you all saw the new Gucci Guilty commercial that exclusively premiered during the VMAs, right? Talk about some sexual chemistry between Chris Evans and Evan Rachel Woods! Now if only we could see some more of that in a longer commercial…or maybe even a feature-length film, we would be some happy campers.

8. Chelsea Handler and that hot tub
Of course the “Jersey Shore” cast was represented at the VMAs, but they couldn’t have done it any more fabulously than by sitting in a hot tub on stage, trying to get Chelsea Handler to climb in with them. She resisted until Snooki called her out in her typical classy fashion. But the best part was when Chelsea climbed out of the hot tub with a fake pregnant belly strapped around her waist.

9. Cher. Just Cher
Yes, that quick clip of “Burlesque” was fantastic, but what was even more fantastic was Cher when she walked out on the stage to present Lady Gaga with her final Moonman of the night for Video of the Year. At 64 years old, Cher totally rocked the same “Turn Back Time” outfit she was famous for in the 1980s. Also, how fitting was it for Cher to present Gaga with the award? Entirely, in our eyes!

10. Aziz Ansari
Blah blah blah, Taylor Swift. Blah blah blah, Kanye West. What everyone should be talking about is Aziz Ansari‘s hilarious introduction for Kanye’s performance, in which he pretended to be on the phone with Ronnie from “Jersey Shore,” learning about what Kanye did to Taylor last year. When he “heard,” Aziz started laughing uncontrollably to a silent audience, and then said, “Well I don’t know what everyone’s so mad about! That sounds hilarious!” After the awkward rehashing of last year’s drama at yesterday’s awards show, we couldn’t quite remember either.

Jennifer Lopez seems close to a deal with American Idol http://katiebernard.com/blog/2010/09/03/jennifer-lopez-seems-close-to-a-deal-with-american-idol/ http://katiebernard.com/blog/2010/09/03/jennifer-lopez-seems-close-to-a-deal-with-american-idol/#comments Fri, 03 Sep 2010 19:09:39 +0000 Katie Bernard http://katiebernard.com/blog/?p=114

NEW YORK (CBS) Jennifer Lopez seems close to being a go for “American Idol”

The 41-year-old singer-actress is reportedly in the final stages of negotiating a deal to appear a judge on the show’s next season.

According to TMZ.com, the Lopez deal could be finalized and “inked as early as next week.”

The Hollywood Reporter wrote in July that Lopez would fill one of the open seats left by Ellen DeGeneres, who decided to leave her judging position after just one season, and Simon Cowell.

The website also reported that producers of the show considered the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer to be one of the best mentors to ever appear on the program, and Lopez is said to be a huge “American Idol” fan. Degeneres was reportedly criticized for her lack of music-critiquing skills.

Adding a big name entertainer such as Jennifer Lopez is believed to be an effort to revitalize the show, which has been garnering fledgling ratings in the last few seasons.

However, a report in People magazine from Aug. 12 stated that Fox had taken back their offer to Lopez because “her demands got out of hand” and the network “had just had enough.”

American Idol’ adds L.A. audition on Sept. 22 2010 http://katiebernard.com/blog/2010/09/03/american-idol-adds-l-a-audition-on-sept-22-2010/ http://katiebernard.com/blog/2010/09/03/american-idol-adds-l-a-audition-on-sept-22-2010/#comments Fri, 03 Sep 2010 14:43:51 +0000 Katie Bernard http://katiebernard.com/blog/?p=111

LOS ANGELES — “American Idol” is expanding the talent search for its next season with an audition in Los Angeles later this month. The hit Fox TV singing contest had announced tryouts in six cities, wrapping in San Francisco in August.

An “American Idol” producer said Thursday the Los Angeles audition is a response to the impressive turnout at those tryouts.

The Sept. 22 audition in Los Angeles also gives “American Idol” breathing room as it fills openings left by the departure of judges Simon Cowell and Ellen DeGeneres. Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez are the reported frontrunners. The show returns in January.
