According to TMZ.com, the Lopez deal could be finalized and “inked as early as next week.”

The Hollywood Reporter wrote in July that Lopez would fill one of the open seats left by Ellen DeGeneres, who decided to leave her judging position after just one season, and Simon Cowell.

The website also reported that producers of the show considered the “Love Don’t Cost a Thing” singer to be one of the best mentors to ever appear on the program, and Lopez is said to be a huge “American Idol” fan. Degeneres was reportedly criticized for her lack of music-critiquing skills.

Adding a big name entertainer such as Jennifer Lopez is believed to be an effort to revitalize the show, which has been garnering fledgling ratings in the last few seasons.

However, a report in People magazine from Aug. 12 stated that Fox had taken back their offer to Lopez because “her demands got out of hand” and the network “had just had enough.”

Fantasia Barrino was hospitalized in North Carolina on Monday, following an overdose of aspirin and a sleeping aid, according to her manager Brian Denkins.

The 26-year-old singer was also dehydrated and exhausted when she took the pills but is in stable condition and is expected to be released from the hospital soon, according to a statement issued by Denkins.

Earlier on Monday, a North Carolina woman filed for divorce from her husband and accused him of having an affair with Barrino. According to the statement Denkins released Tuesday, Barrino had a off-and-on-relationship for over 11 months with the man because she believed he had been separated from his wife since the summer of 2009.

“Fantasia read the [the complaint] for the first time” Monday, the statement says. “She knows some of the allegations…are totally false. There are others she strongly doubts. There is plenty she does not know. Fantasia is heartbroken and is sorry for any pain she may have caused.”

After she read the complaint, Barrino was “overwhelmed by the lawsuit and the allegations,” the statement said.

“Fantasia is a fighter and a survivor,” the statement said. “”This is not the hardest thing Fantasia has endured. Fantasia will be stronger, smarter and better for it.”

Barrino is prepping her third album, “Back to Me,” set for release Aug. 24. The album is her first in nearly four years after touring with “The Color Purple.” Her VH1 reality show, “Fantasia For Real,” returns on Sept. 19 for its second season.

ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35) – It wasn’t so long ago that FOX 35 held our own version of American Idol auditions, in what we called  ” Orlando Idol, ” where two lucky people were given a pass to the front of the line for the American Idol auditions held week’s later at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort .

Through all of the contestants that auditioned for “Orlando Idol,” our judges narrowed down their decision to two lucky people, Katie Bernard and EJ Cardona.

Not a newcomer to the American Idol auditions, Katie Bernard performed for the judges a few years ago but was eliminated. The judges liked her then and she was greeted with a warm reception the second time around. FOX 35′s Christine Van Blokland was there when Katie emerged with a golden ticket and asked Katie about her singing strategy.

“A few years ago at this time, I was nervous,” Katie said. “I’m not now, which is good.” Read More…
